Gill Furniss MP
Here’s a look at what’s coming up in Parliament next week 👇
Monday: General debate on Remembrance and the Contribution of Veterans
We are deeply proud of our Armed Forces personnel, veterans, and their families for the contribution they make to our country. Theirs is the ultimate public service – and their professionalism and bravery is rightly respected across the world.
This debate is a chance to say thank you to our veterans and discuss how the Government is supporting them, such as establishing an independent Armed Forces Commissioner to improve service life, putting the Armed Forces covenant fully into law and looking at how best to provide the right support to our veterans.
💡 Tuesday: Remaining Stages of the Great British Energy Bill
On Tuesday, the Great British Energy Bill is expected to complete its Commons stages. This is a huge milestone in setting up GB Energy, a new, publicly owned, clean energy company.
This is part of the Government’s mission to deliver cheap, clean, homegrown power by 2030, so households are no longer left vulnerable to volatile international fossil fuel markets in the grip of dictators and petrostates.
💼 Wednesday: The Chancellor’s Budget Statement
The first Labour Budget will be focused on fixing the foundations of Britain. The previous Conservative Government crashed the economy, sent mortgages through the roof, and left a £22 billion black hole in the country’s finances.
I look forward to hearing from the Chancellor about how she will deliver the change that Britain voted for, protecting working people and fixing the NHS.
