Dear Foreign Secretary,
RE: Stampede in Sanaa, Yemen
I am writing to you regarding the tragic incident that took place in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, where at least 78 people lost their lives and dozens more were injured in a stampede.
It is devastating to see such a large number of people lose their lives, especially during the month of Ramadan where the act of giving to charity is of great significance.
The situation in Yemen remains one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world, with millions of people in need of assistance. This latest tragedy is a stark reminder of the fragile nature of life in Yemen for many.
Therefore, I urge you to provide whatever humanitarian support is needed to alleviate the suffering of the people in Yemen. I call on the Government to work with international aid agencies to provide necessary assistance to all those affected.
The UK government must continue to play its part in the international community’s efforts to end the ongoing conflict in Yemen and to provide vital aid to the Yemeni people.
Yours sincerely,
Gill Furniss MP
