Dear Ian,
RE: Changes to bus routes in October
In recent days I have received many pieces of correspondence from constituents concerned about changes to their local bus services being imposed in October.
The 52a bus is a vital route for many of my constituents in Sheffield. Therefore, the decision to axe this route from Hillsborough onwards has come as a huge shock for the local community. I share their deep concern about the loss of this important route.
I am aware that replacements are being lined up. However, the fact that these will only run once per hour, and not at all on Sundays, evenings and early mornings, means that it is simply not fit for purpose for many people. I have been contacted by constituents who each have their own personal reasons for the importance of this bus; whether for getting to work, connecting with friends and family across the city, and even having a safe way to get home in the evenings with the nights drawing in.
I would like to request a meeting with you at your earliest convenience to discuss these concerns. I would be grateful if you could get in touch with my office to arrange a date for this.
Yours sincerely,
Gill Furniss MP
